Here is a picture of a pretty momentous day, the concrete pour establishing the ground floor of our new home.  There is a great feeling around the site, a lot of action but thankfully no drama.
James Pitcher and Lisa from Norfolk Pro Build are on hand to make sure all goes to plan as is Wilf Meynell the architect; standing on the sidelines are loads of friends and family to share in the excitement.  Who knew a load of grey gloop could cause so much joy.....

The next morning we were up at 6am to watch the concrete being power floated, brining the fat is the term I have since learned.  A beautiful morning and it was so tempting to have a go on what looked very much like a ginormous floor polisher, however common sense (and probably huge insurance risks) prevailed and I left it to the experts.  Lucas and his cousins Milo and Finn left their hand prints in the concrete but I have a feeling it was promptly 'floated' - they'll have another go at some point.

This is brilliant.  Lucas (12 year old son) and I have managed to find some land, with the most amazing view, get planning permission (Paragraph 55 of the NPPF) and got the ball most assuredly rolling not even a year since our first meeting with Wilf at our small rented flat, in the next door village.  As someone who likes things to move at a fast rate, this is really taking my breath away.

We will post again with an update soon.  Thanks for reading.

The Power floating

Power floating the ground floor, a crazy 6am                              start. Even the tv cameras turned up.
